Required Documents:

- Two (2) Professional Letters ofRecommendation signed or electronic signature and dated within the last 12 months (one year) of the application. References must be from a person who can assess your ability as an administrator or your work ethic and character. Conferred Transcripts with a Graduation Date: Current M-DCPS employees do not need to submit official transcripts if highest degree earned is on file in the Office of Personnel Records (305-995-7258). For external candidates, official transcripts will be required if you are recommended for the position. Your degree must be from an accredited university. If the position does not require a college degree, you are required to have at least a high school diploma. Candidates with academic training and degrees granted outside the U.S. must submit a credential evaluation report that includes a statement of degree equivalency from an accredited agency in the U.S.

Oral Interview Assessment Categories: Candidates invited to an interview will be assessed in the following areas:

Candidates will be invited to complete a written essay prior to the Initial Interview. Candidates who are successful in the Initial Interview will be invited to a Final Interview. Salary Min: $46,605.00Salary Max: $79,246.00OCCUPATIONAL SUMMARY Responsible for assisting in the development, implementation and operation of comprehensive programs to market and provide information to various audiences about Miami-Dade County Public Schools (M-DCPS). Position requires a high degree of communication, organization, marketing, public relations, desktop publishing, multimedia production and online skills.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
- Supports the development and implementation of M-DCPS news, public information, and marketing programs as well as specific promotional and informational projects, as required.
- Coordinates the production of school District publications, including newsletters, reports, brochures, advertisem*nts, posters; writes and/or edits copies for a variety of communication vehicles including news releases, speeches, scripts, advertising/internet copies, public service announcements, video presentations, audio programs, podcasts, correspondence and memoranda.
- Develops and maintains the office website; promotes M-DCPS through appropriate web links.
- Coordinates the timely and efficient dissemination of news and other information through the online media and host radio programs and podcasts.
- Assists in the planning and execution of press conferences and informational campaigns: maintains contact with electronic print and online media public service and program directors, editors and reporters, as well as corporate partners.
- Manages marketing campaigns, from research and planning execution and post-assessment.
- Performs other duties related to the general administrative responsibilities of the position.
- Assists media with pitching stories relevant to District-wide events.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSThis work requires the following physical activities: sitting, mobility, lifting, finger dexterity, grasping, repetitive motions, talking, hearing and visual acuity. The work is performed primarily indoors.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, or related field.
- Minimum of three (3) years experience as a professional in public relations, advertising, marketing, journalism, radio and/or television or related field.
- Extensive experience as a writer, editor and/or designer of print, broadcast and online media, to include experience in marketing and advertising. Experience in planning and implementing promotional events and substantial experience with the Internet.
- Candidate must provide portfolio of work for review during the selection process.
- Bilingual in English/Haitian Creole or English/Spanish preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both in oral and written forms.
