Like others, I do not review recipes. However, the ribs were so tender and delicious, I had to write a review. I also baked the ribs for only 2 hours, I did add garlic to the baking pan with the onions and Sam Adams Lager. I used Buffalo Trace original BBQ sauce for the grilling step. Many compliments during dinner as well as after! This recipe is a keeper!

Made for the first time because the weather has kept us all inside. Used our homemade pork rub and baked the ribs on a rack so they could sit above the beer. After three hours they were super-tender, fall-off-the-bone. Basted with sauce & finished at 500F for ten minutes. Think next time might put a couple drops of liquid smoke in the beer, see what happens.

I have made this over a dozen times, and EVERY TIME it is great. My guests and myself enjoy this so much since they are the perfect ribs. Of course adding your own favorite sauce finishes it well!!

But almost every time I serve it, I have someone asking for the recipe!!!

Yes, as anther reviewer stated, chop the onions in a food processor. You can cut them up by hand. Either way, once chopped, mix them into your BBQ sauce.

I never made ribs before until I saw this recipe. I made them and accidentally burned them a little and everyone still raved about them. Cooked them 3 more times the correct way and literally the best we ever had. I feel like a rib pro and am confident they are better than anyone I know cooks lol. We used Dos Equis. Yummmmmy. Also we do 2-2.5 hours instead of 3. Cooking them for the fifth time as I write this.

This is the third time I've made these. It is now the "go to" rib recipe for us. 2 hours in oven is enough for fall of the bone ribs. Let ribs rest for at least an hour before trying to handle or transfer. Absolutely delicious, tender, fairly simple, and no need to baste on a grill for hours. Made per recipe, and put in fridge until next day, then on the grill for just a short time. Perfect. Use any of your favorite BBQ sauces, and you have a winner. I purée the cooked onions into the BBQ sauce, delightful.

These turned out really well. I cooked a little over 2 hours in oven per other reviews then let rest a little bit before grilling. I added maple syrup and chipotle pepper to bottled sauce. The spicy sweet sauce would also be good on chicken. Grilled on a gas grill with three burners - left one in the middle off. Next time I will turn on all three burners because the parts that "blackened" slightly were really good and gave the ribs a nice texture.

This may be the BEST EVER RIB recipe. Followed the recipe with two exceptions, I cooked the ribs for only two hours as several others did, and I used a bottled sauce that is a favorite. All in all a most enjoyable meal.

These were easy and outstanding. I did a half rack of baby back and a full rack of st. Louis style ribs - I wish I'd done all st. Louis! Probably worse for you, but oh soooooo good and worth it on the rare occasion I have ribs. I recommend upgrading. Cook times and preparation exactly the same.

Fabulous and easy. I had brined the ribs overnight in a salt/sugar/herb blend, but then followed this recipe for roasting in the oven. I cooked 2 full slabs of ribs for just a little over 2 hours. Because it was then POURING rain, I opted to add BBQ sauce (Sweet Baby Ray's) and finished them in the oven for 30 minutes. Very tender and very flavorful. Can't wait to try finishing them up on the grill, but the total oven version is also worth 5 stars.

OMG! I know why this recipe received 5 stars. These are simply 'thee best' ribs I have ever had...cooked at home, restaurant or otherwise. They were easy to make and turned out cripsy on the outside and tender on the inside. A couple of notes: * I used Dos Equis beer and noticed that with about 45 minutes left in the oven, it had evaporated, so I added a bit of water to the pan. (If you can use a disposable foil pan or line a metal pan with foil, it will save you some clean-up). * I couldn't find any Chipotle Maple BBQ sauce and didn't want to make it myself, so I bought a honey chipotle sauce and added a bit of real maple syrup and it made an outstanding sauce! * I bought St. Louis style baby back ribs and they were really meaty. Thank you for submitting this recipe. I will be making it agin very soon.

In a word: ridiculous! I have never, ever posted a recipe review online and these were so unbelievable I had to! I used a can of chicken broth instead of the beer and used a Cajun spice mix in addition to pepper and Stubb's spicy bbq sauce to finish them. 300 degrees for 3 hours was perfect for 3 1/2 pounds and I let them rest about an hour before putting them on the grill. They fell apart when you looked at them - you won't be disappointed!

WOW!!! I thought I would struggle forever with trying to find a way to make ribs that literally fall off the bone. Well, I will search no more cause this is it. The concept is perfect...slow and low. However, if you are only going to cook one rack of ribs at about 2 or 2 1/2 lbs. keep the time at about 2 1/2 hours. If you go longer than that, the beer will dry up.

These are the easiest and best way to fix baby back ribs EVER! I used the co*ke "base" mentioned earlier in reviews. I would recommend either doing the 2 hr and take out to refrigerate or turn off the heat leave in for 3 hrs and then refrigerate before putting on the grill. They really need to "chill" a bit otherwise being so tender they will fall all over your grill. Incredible ribs!

I made this recipe for the 1st time a few months ago. I followed the recipe to the letter even after reading the reviews and saw that a few people only baked them for 2 hours. I made 4 racks of baby back and because the cook time was so long I made 2 racks the day before and the other racks the morning of. I agree that right out of the oven, the ribs just don’t hold together while grilling. On the other hand the day before ribs grilled perfectly and still fell right off the bone.

My rule of thumb is always to prepare a recipe exactly as written the first time, and then refine after that. I put the ribs into the oven for three hours, and they literally were falling over the bone, making it difficult to then move them to the grill. Delicious, yes, but next time I will check after two hours. Since I don't like the chipotle flavor, I served with another homemade BBQ sauce for a traditional Memorial Day cookout along with potato salad, baked beans, and apple pie for dessert. I certainly would serve to company.

So, so good. I made a double batch and did need the whole baking time in the oven. I used two roasting pans and switched them half-way thru the cooking time. Fall-off-the-bone ribs = my favorite. This was the first time I have ever made ribs. I will use this recipe again and again. The only thing i changed was taht I didn't have any hot peppers, the only thing i had in the house was szchechuan sauce - but it was still delish!

These were the most amazing ribs ever...and the chipotle maple bbq sauce made them that much better. I will NEVER buy bbq sauce from the store again! This had just the right amount of sweetness and spice. We chose to use spare ribs instead of baby back ribs because we were told the spare ribs had more meat on them and they were about half the price. We were a little concerned about them not being tender enough and actually being a little over cooked, cooking them at 350 degrees for 3 hours, but they turned out perfect and had so much meat on them. We didn't have any problems keeping them together on the grill and we just lathered them up with sauce and left them on until they had a nice dark color all around. This recipe is a MUST for any rib lover, any occasion!

Followed the recipe to a "T". Turned out great...except for the fact that after 3 hours in the oven, the ribs were indeed totally falling apart, which made it very hard to grill them without the meat falling through the grates. The Chipotle Maple sauce was very good! I guess next time, I may reduce the oven time so I can have the ribs not fall apart as I'm trying to put them on the grill grates and adjust the grill time as needed.
